The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God is the reign of God's grace and peace, initiated by Jesus and to be fulfilled at the end of time.
The Kingdom of God (or Kingdom of Heaven) is the central theme of Jesus' preaching: 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand' (Mark 1:15; CCC 541). It is the reign of God's love, justice, and peace (CCC 541-546, 709).
Present and Future
The Kingdom is already present in mystery in the Church and will be brought to its full perfection when Christ returns in glory (CCC 541, 671, 763). It is like a seed that grows until the harvest at the end of time (CCC 543, 672).
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can enter the Kingdom? The Kingdom belongs to the poor and lowly, which means those who have accepted it with humble hearts (CCC 544). To enter it, one must be born again of water and the Spirit (John 3:5).
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
