Time (Theology of Time)

In Catholic theology, time is a created reality that unfolds God's saving plan, ordered toward eternity and sanctified by the Incarnation.

In Catholic theology, time is not an illusion or a meaningless cycle; it is a reality created by God within which salvation history unfolds. God is eternal—existing outside of time—but he acts within time to reveal himself and redeem humanity (CCC 1046, 1168).

Sanctified by Christ

By the Incarnation, the eternal Son of God entered into human time. Because of this, time itself has been redeemed and sanctified. The Church sanctifies time through the Liturgical Year and the Liturgy of the Hours, making the rhythm of days and seasons a constant remembrance of eternity (CCC 1168, 1174).

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
