A catechism is a comprehensive and systematic summary of Christian doctrine, serving as an authoritative guide for teaching the Catholic faith.
A catechism is a text that presents the fundamental truths of the Catholic faith in a systematic and organic way. It is designed to aid in catechesis—the education of believers in the faith (CCC 11).
The Catechism of the Catholic Church
Promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1992, the modern Catechism of the Catholic Church is divided into four main parts: the Profession of Faith (the Creed), the Celebration of the Christian Mystery (the Sacraments), Life in Christ (the moral life), and Christian Prayer (CCC 13–17).
