Amen

Amen is a Hebrew word used to express agreement, affirmation, and belief, meaning 'So be it' or 'Truly.'

Amen is the biblical expression of faith that concludes our prayers and our confession of faith in the Creed (CCC 1061). It signifies our 'Yes' to God's promises and His will (CCC 1062-1064).

The 'Amen' of Christ

Jesus Himself is called 'the Amen' (Revelation 3:14), for He is the definitive 'Yes' of God's love to humanity (CCC 1065).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we say it after the Creed? To signify our total assent to the truths we have just confessed (CCC 1064).

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
