Blessed Sacrament
The Blessed Sacrament is a title for the Eucharist, especially when the consecrated species are reserved in the tabernacle.
The Blessed Sacrament refers to the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, truly and substantially contained under the species of bread and wine (CCC 1374). It is the 'sacrament of sacraments' (CCC 1211, 1330).
Adoration and Reservation
Because Christ is truly present, the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the tabernacle for the sick and for the adoration of the faithful (CCC 1378-1379).
