Choir
The choir is a group of singers who lead the liturgical assembly in musical prayer.
The choir, or schola cantorum, has an important liturgical function: to lead the faithful in singing and to perform musical parts proper to themselves, thereby enhancing the beauty of the celebration (CCC 1143).
Musical Prayer
The Church teaches that 'he who sings prays twice' (St. Augustine), and the choir serves to uplift the hearts of the assembly toward God (CCC 1156-1158).
Frequently Asked Questions
