Soul
The soul is the spiritual principle of human beings, created directly by God, which is immortal and forms a single nature with the body.
The soul refers to the innermost aspect of man, the spiritual principle by which he is most especially in God's image (CCC 363). It is the form of the body (CCC 365).

Every spiritual soul is created immediately by God and is immortal, meaning it does not perish at death (CCC 366).
