Son of God

Son of God is the title of Jesus Christ that expresses His unique and eternal relationship with God the Father.

The title 'Son of God' signifies the unique and eternal relationship of Jesus Christ to God His Father: He is the only Son of the Father; He is God Himself (CCC 441-445). To be a Christian, one must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (CCC 454).

Divine Nature

At the Baptism and the Transfiguration, the Father's voice designated Jesus as His 'beloved Son' (CCC 444). This title affirms that Jesus is of the same substance as the Father (CCC 465).
