Charism
Special graces given by the Holy Spirit to individuals for the building up of the Church.
Charisms are supernatural gifts intended for the common good and the needs of the world (CCC 799-801). They range from extraordinary gifts like healing or tongues to simpler gifts like service and teaching (CCC 799).
Gifts for Mission
Charisms are given to be used in charity and in submission to the Church's shepherds to ensure they truly serve the unity and mission of the Body of Christ (CCC 800-801, 826).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a charism the same as a talent? A talent is a natural ability; a charism is a specific, supernatural grace from the Holy Spirit for the benefit of others (CCC 799).
