Concupiscence
Concupiscence is the disordered human desire that remains even after Baptism and inclines a person toward sin.
Theological concupiscence refers to the movement of the sensitive appetite contrary to human reason—the 'tinder of sin' that remains after Baptism (CCC 1264, 2515).
Result of the Fall
It stems from the first sin and unsettled human nature, causing a rebellion of the 'flesh' against the 'spirit' (CCC 2515).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it sin? While it inclines us toward sin, it is not sin in itself and cannot harm those who resist it by grace (CCC 1264).
