Genesis

Genesis is the first book of the Bible, recounting the creation of the world, the Fall of humanity, and the origins of God's covenant with the patriarchs.

Genesis is the foundational book of Sacred Scripture. It records the primeval history of humanity—the creation of the universe, the creation of man and woman in God's image, the tragedy of the Fall, and the spread of sin (CCC 289, 390).

The Patriarchs

After the primeval history, Genesis traces the beginnings of God's redemptive plan through his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. These narratives lay the groundwork for the entire history of salvation that culminates in Jesus Christ (CCC 59, 706).

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
