Good Shepherd
Good Shepherd is a title of Jesus expressing His loving care, guidance, and sacrificial love for His followers.
Jesus calls Himself the 'Good Shepherd' who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them (John 10:11, 14; CCC 754). This image is one of the most beloved descriptions of Christ's relationship with the Church.
The Shepherd of the Church
As the Good Shepherd, Jesus continues to guide His flock through the ministry of the Pope and the bishops, who are called to be shepherds of the People of God (CCC 881, 1551).
