Laity
The laity are all the baptized faithful except those in Holy Orders or religious life—called by God to sanctify the secular world from within.
The term "laity" refers to all the Christian faithful except those in Holy Orders and those who belong to a religious state approved by the Church. By Baptism, the laity are incorporated into Christ and share in His priestly, prophetic, and royal office (CCC 897).
The Vocation of the Laity
The specific vocation of the laity is to seek the Kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and directing them according to God's will. Unlike monks or priests who are dedicated to the internal life of the Church, the laity are called to act as a leaven in the secular world—bringing the light of the Gospel to politics, business, culture, family, and society at large (CCC 898-899).
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
