The Last Supper

The final meal Jesus shared with His Apostles, where He instituted the Eucharist and Holy Orders.

The Last Supper is the Passover meal at which Jesus anticipated His sacrifice on the Cross by giving His Body and Blood to His disciples under the forms of bread and wine (CCC 1323, 1339). It is the origin of the Mass (CCC 1337-1340).

At the Last Supper, Christ instituted the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Orders when He commanded the Apostles to 'Do this in memory of me' (CCC 1337, 1577).
