Gospel (Law of the)
The Law of the Gospel, or New Law, is the grace of the Holy Spirit given to believers through faith in Christ, fulfilling and perfecting the Old Law.
The Law of the Gospel, or the New Law, is the perfection here on earth of the divine law, natural and revealed. It is the work of Christ and is expressed particularly in the Sermon on the Mount (CCC 1965).
A Law of Love, Grace, and Freedom
The New Law is not primarily a new set of written rules, but the grace of the Holy Spirit given through faith in Christ. It is called a law of love because it makes us act out of the love infused by the Holy Spirit, rather than from fear; a law of grace, because it confers the strength to act; and a law of freedom, because it frees us from the ritual observances of the Old Law (CCC 1966, 1972).
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
