Particular Church

A particular Church is a community of the Christian faithful in communion of faith and sacraments with their bishop ordained in apostolic succession.

A particular Church—most commonly a diocese (or eparchy)—is a community of the Christian faithful in communion of faith and sacraments with their bishop, who is ordained in apostolic succession (CCC 833).

The Universal in the Local

The universal Catholic Church exists in and through the particular Churches. A particular Church is not merely an administrative branch of a global corporation; it is the fully real, localized manifestation of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church (CCC 832–833).

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
