Bread of Life
Bread of Life is the title of Jesus expressing His presence in the Eucharist as the spiritual nourishment for eternal life.
Jesus identifies Himself as the 'Bread of Life' in the Gospel of John, promising that whoever eats of this bread will live forever (John 6:35, 51; CCC 1333). This discourse prefigures the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper (CCC 1333-1335).
The True Manna
Just as God gave manna to the Israelites in the desert, Jesus is the true bread come down from heaven to provide the strength needed for our journey to the Promised Land of heaven (CCC 1094, 1334).
