Peace
Peace is not merely the absence of war, but the tranquility of order—the fruit of justice and the effect of charity.
Peace is defined by St. Augustine as "the tranquility of order." It is not merely the absence of war or a balance of power between adversaries, but the fruit of justice and the effect of charity. Peace is a fundamental characteristic of the Kingdom of God (CCC 2304).
The Gift of Christ
Earthly peace is the image and fruit of the peace of Christ, the messianic "Prince of Peace." By His blood on the cross, Christ reconciled humanity with God, slaying hostility. The Holy Spirit produces peace as one of His twelve fruits in the soul of the believer (CCC 2305, 1832).
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
