Piety (Gift)
Piety is a gift of the Holy Spirit that instills a filial affection for God as Father and a loving reverence for all that belongs to Him.
Piety is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. It inspires the soul with a deep, filial love and reverence for God as a loving Father. It moves the believer to worship God out of affection rather than mere obligation (CCC 1831).
Reverence for Others
Because piety roots us in the love of God our Father, it also extends to a respectful affection for all His children. It fosters a spirit of gentleness, compassion, and respect toward others, as well as reverence for sacred things, the saints, and the Blessed Virgin Mary (CCC 1831).
