Prophet
A prophet is a person chosen by God to speak His word and call the people to conversion.
A prophet is called by God to be His messenger, preparing the people for the Messiah (CCC 64, 2581). Jesus is the definitive Prophet (CCC 65, 436).
The Prophetic Office
All Christians share in Christ's prophetic office through Baptism (CCC 785, 904).
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there prophets today? While public revelation is complete, the Spirit continues to give charisms that can include a prophetic role (CCC 799).
